HRH Princess Soamsawali graciously presided over the grand opening ceremony of “Emporium Blossom 2010: Scent of Orchid Splendour”, the annual orchid show and competition featuring the showcase of spectacular gigantea orchid for the first time in the city. This magnificent floral event is co-hosted by the Horticultural Science Society of Thailand, the Royal Horticultural Society of Thailand and the government's departments of Agriculture and Agricultural Extension. Thai Beverage Plc (ThaiBev) is among major sponsors of the event, which runs through January 31.

The event highlights the year's first bloom of gigantea orchids in Bangkok along with an exhibition of Sukhothai's heritage products. It also featuring "Chang Chon Chang", a contest to search for the most beautiful arrangement of gigantea orchids, held for the first time in the city. The winner was awarded with the trophy from HRH Princess Soamsawali, a cash prize as well as a certificate from the Princess herself.
